Six UvA Researchers Awarded Prestigious ERC Advanced Grants

The European Research Council (ERC) has awarded Advanced Grants to six researchers at the University of Amsterdam. Each grant, worth up to €2.5 million, supports cutting-edge fundamental research by established scholars with a track record of significant achievements.

We are especially proud to highlight two awardees from our own faculty:

  • Prof. Dr Maarten de Rijke, University Professor of AI and Information Retrieval, will lead the project UNITE, developing trustworthy, explainable, and robust generative information retrieval systems.

  • Dr Luca Incurvati, Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation, will work on GOOD INTENSIONS, a project that seeks to establish new philosophical and logical foundations for intensional notions such as content, proof, and modality.

The other recipients are Gianfranco Bertone (astroparticle physics), Carsten Dominik (astronomy), Marieke de Goede (political science), and Eric-Jan Wagenmakers (psychology).
