Artificial Intelligence is a societal issue. The technology is no longer the exclusive domain of a select group of researchers. The genie is out of the bottle—everyone is talking about it. Even many researchers and experts are overwhelmed by the rapid developments in AI, but what does it really mean for people?

The Amsterdam AI Public Engagement Fellows are for everyone who wants to engage in conversations about the societal impact of AI—beyond the usual circles, in real discussions. A genuine dialogue between science and society, on equal footing.

Conversations on the Impact of AI

AI is changing the world, but how do we ensure that everyone can take part in the conversation about these developments? This project facilitates real discussions between scientists and citizens about the impact of AI on our society. Together, we explore topics such as privacy, deepfakes, generative AI, and ethical dilemmas.

Through interactive installations and physical interventions, we bring AI closer and make it accessible to everyone. We create an open dialogue where citizens and scientists learn from each other.

Amsterdam has an unparalleled knowledge base in AI. Hundreds of researchers and thousands of students work daily at the cutting edge of AI—not only within the sciences but across disciplines. Amsterdam AI Public Engagement Fellows

Since the rise of generative AI, you no longer need to explain what you work on at a party—or do you? What do people expect from AI? What concerns or questions do they have? And how can you, as a researcher, contribute to the conversation?

As a Public Engagement Fellow, you’ll gain the tools you need to engage in meaningful, two-way dialogue about your research. We offer:
