Santeon hospitals in the Netherlands are the first to roll out artificial intelligence in the ICU
OLVG hospital in Amsterdam is the first to use AI decision support for safe ICU discharge
OLVG in Amsterdam has begun using artificial intelligence (AI) to determine when patients can be discharged from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with other hospitals set to follow suit. The AI system predicts the probability of a patient being readmitted to the ICU or dying after discharge by analyzing factors and patterns based on patient data and observations. Developed by Pacmed, the software aims to prevent readmissions, optimize ICU capacity, and improve patient care. This implementation represents a significant step in the use of AI on the ICU, addressing personnel challenges and contributing to accessible and affordable high-quality care in the face of growing healthcare demands.
